'Tis the Season...Already?

I popped in OSH this morning to get some screws, and was kind of shocked when I saw Xmas trees up, and the cash registers decorated with garlands.

Then, driving in the car I listened to Feliz Navidad, All I Want for Xmas is You, and Jingle Bell Rock.

Can this be happening? Don't they usually wait until after Thanksgiving?

Ummm... haven't been in the states for a while have you. *grin*

Christmas stuff starts appearing in stores just after Labor Day, the real ramp up starts just before Halloween (which is just the strangest thing to see Christmas decor right down the aisle from the Halloween stuff), then the local stores all start decorating a week or 2 before Thanksgiving. Next Friday be prepared... every store you hit will be playing wall to wall Christmas music.

It's more than a little over the top. But they do it anyway. *sigh*

It's even worse in Canada because our Thanksgiving is in the beginning of October! We have had Christmas for awhile now and just last week it arrived at Starbucks...that's always my sign that it is coming soon.

Yeah, I was talking to the most excellent people we have at the local Starbucks (they rock - they know my drink when I walk in the door LOL)... corporate decides when the Christmas decoration goes up. And it will be all Christmas music starting the day after Thanksgiving. I told them, they have all my sympathy. (what a terrible thing to do to employees!)
