Marriage vs. wedding

Marriage rules.

Yesterday evening I was contemplating our almost 7 month union and commented to my husband: "You know, the wedding was nice and everything, but, whew, in retrospect that wasn't the most fun ever." And he agreed that being married has been a lot of fun, whereas we were both a bundle of nerves up until the wedding.

I mean, it was great to have friends and family there, but there was so much trepidation and worry and nervousness, that I really didn't enjoy it as much as you imagine you are going to enjoy your wedding day. It was truly beautiful and we have the photos to prove it...but marriage has proven to be a lot more fulfilling!

I definitely don't look back on my wedding day and wish we could do it all over again...it seems almost like it was a trial to be survived.

Am I the only one who feels like this, or does anyone else look back and feel kind of relieved that it was over and they don't have to relive it?

Gone, baby, gone

We Netflix. However, it seems like we have overfished the Netflix waters, and rarely do we rent a movie that is really interesting now...but last night we watched: Gone, Baby, Gone.

First of all, I definitely think that Ben Affleck is a better director than actor...and his brother Casey is a pretty good actor.

The casting was marvelous. I mean, people were extremely ordinary and normal looking (read: occasionally even pretty ugly, but in a natural way, not in a Hollywood trying to make someone look ugly and dirty way) in this movie.

The dialogue was pretty realistic too, in fact, we actually had to turn on the closed captioning, because there was so much mumbling and Boston accent that we couldn't really catch everything at the beginning.

The ending is pretty controversial, and not the way most movies would end. And it's interesting how the main character accepts his fate. I don't want to give the ending away, but it really is the kind of movie that you want to discuss about with other people. Now, I am not going to flat-out say this movie is a great movie and reccomend it to everyone, but it isn't a complete waste of time and it does leave you thinking. So if you have overfished the DVD rental waters too, this might be a good one to try out.
